$250 to $1,000 for the first conviction for dumping any items illegally. Fines increase for subsequent convictions, illegal disposal by a business, or quantities in excess of one cubic yard.
The penalty also can include a requirement that the person convicted of dumping must remove the dumped materials, or pay to have them removed.
See California Penal Code 374-3 for complete details.
Fines for illegally dumping tires are significantly higher than fines for illegally discarding other materials. They may range from $500 to $10,000 per day per violation.
